MasonBreese has been a B Corp certified company since 2023.

We are committed to demonstrating that business success goes hand in hand with ethical practices, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

As a result, we chose to to apply for B Corp certification to benefit from a clear framework that addresses the entirety of a business’ operations. The five key impact areas the framework covers are Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.

The certification process is rigorous, with businesses needing to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.

You can read more about how we did in our assessment on the B Corp website.

Each company that applies for B Corp certification is issued with an impact report. This impact report is made up of a points based system, directly relating to the business’ performance against the five key impact areas of the assessment framework. Companies need to achieve a score of over 80 in order to qualify for B Corp status. MasonBreese achieved a score of 80.2, whereas the median score for most ordinary businesses is 50.9.

This journey is just the beginning for MasonBreese and we will continue to work on improving our score for each assessment.

MasonBreese’s journey to B Corp certification

What is a B Corp certification?

B Corp certification is provided by B Labs, which is a nonprofit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. B Corp is the highest standard of external certification of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards available to for-profit companies. The B Corp certification process evaluates the entirety of a business’ operations.

Why did MasonBreese want to obtain B Corp certification?

The certification aligns to one of our key aspirations to become a role model business in our communities. This was essential to us and the certification helps us to clearly demonstrate our commitment to sustainable social value for our colleagues, clients and communities.

Although there are over 5,000 businesses certified across the globe, there are only two other B Corp certified businesses across the Channel Islands. Therefore, certifying as a B Corp allows us to lead the change on positive business impact across the Channel Islands and beyond.
